The Bauska district (Bauskas novads) is located in southern Latvia on the border with Lithuania in the historic Zemgale countryside .

The district consists of the 8 municipalities (pagasts) Brunava, Ceraukste, Code, Dāviņi, Gailīši, Īslīce, Mežotne, Vecsaule and the administrative center Bauska . 26,634 inhabitants (2013) live in the Bauska district.
Krieviņi
The Krewischen or krieviņi were Woten carried off by the order master Vincke von Overberg , who were settled in the area southeast of the city for the construction of Bauska Castle. Until the beginning of the 19th century they had their own culture and language.
