The Ilūkste District (Ilūkstes novads) is located in the south of Latvia in the Sēlija region .
geography
The rural district is located west of Daugavpils and borders the Daugava in the east and Lithuania in the west. The largest lake is the Svente-See with its natural park.
Communities
The district consists of the towns of Ilūkste and Subate and the municipalities (pagasts) Bebrene, Dviete, Eglaine, Pilskalne, Prode and Šēdere. In 2010, 9,062 people lived in the 648 km 2 district.
