The District Ērgļi (Ērgļu novads) is located in the center of Latvia in the historic landscape Vidzeme .
geography
The district lies on the Livonian ridge and is rich in forests and lakes. The Ogre River runs through the area and partially forms the northern border. A railway line from Ērgļi to Riga is no longer in operation.
population
The district consists of the three municipalities (pagasts) Jumurda, Sausnēja and the administrative center Ērgļi . 3535 inhabitants (2010) live in the district.
