The Babīte district (Babītes novads) is located in the center of Latvia in the historical Zemgale landscape by the Babīte Lake of the same name .
geography
The area lies west of the city limits to Riga . The swampy forest area serves, among other things, as a local recreation area for the city dwellers and is partially protected. The Lielupe runs in the west of the district .
population
The district consists of the two parishes (pagasts) Sala and Babīte . The administrative center is in Piņķi . 9223 inhabitants (2009) live in the Babīte district.
