The district of Aloja (Alojas novads) is located in northern Latvia on the border with Estonia in the historic Vidzeme landscape .

population
A total of 5584 inhabitants (July 1, 2014) live in the Aloja district on an area of 630.7 km². The district consists of two cities and four parishes (pagasts)
- Aloja land with 905 inhabitants,
- Braslava with 656 inhabitants,
- Brīvzemnieki with 1023 inhabitants,
- Staicele city with 1078 inhabitants,
- Staicele land with 620 inhabitants and
- the administrative center of Aloja town with 1302 inhabitants.
