The Stopiņi district (Stopiņu novads) is located in Latvia .
geography
The district area is located in the center of the country, southwest of the Bay of Riga . The small Jugla flows through the area , 54% of the area is forested.
population
The Stopiņi municipality became Stopiņu novads in 2004 without changing its territory. The largest places are Ulbroka, Saurieši, Upeslejas, Dreiliņi and Stopiņi. Of the 9,908 inhabitants (July 1, 2010) 55% are Latvian, 33% Russian and 5% Belarusian. 53% are male and 47% female.
