The Carnikava District (Carnikavas novads) is located on the Gulf of Riga in Latvia in the historic Vidzeme countryside . The administrative center is in Carnikava .
geography
The district lies directly on the Gulf of Riga between the mouth of the Gauja and Lake Kisch . The Zemitāni – Skulte railway line also crosses the entire length of the district.
population
The district consists of only one municipality (pagasts), which has been formed since March 21, 2006 from the six localities Carnikava, Kalngale, Garciems, Garupe, Gauja and Lilaste. Due to the proximity to the capital Riga , several new building areas were built in the Carnikava district. As a result, the population is growing steadily. In 2018 the district had 9276 inhabitants.
