Whitney Elizabeth Engen (born November 28, 1987 in Torrance , California ) is an American football player .
Career
society
Engen began her career in 2009 with W-League participant Pali Blues . For the 2010 season she was drafted by the WPS participant Chicago Red Stars and came there to 24 missions. The following year she ran for the league competitor Western New York Flash and won the WPS championship with this before she gave a short guest appearance at the Swedish first division club Tyresö FF in the second half of the year on loan . After the WPS disbanded just before the 2012 season, she returned to the Pali Blues. At the end of 2012 she signed a contract for the 2013 season with Liverpool LFC and won the championship in the FA WSL with this. She then moved, as she had done two years before, to Tyresö FF for the winter half-year, with whom she moved into the final of the Champions League .
In the early summer of 2014, Engen joined the NWSL newcomer Houston Dash and made his debut there on June 8 in an away win against Sky Blue FC . For the 2015 season, she and her teammate Becky Edwards moved to the NWSL franchise of Western New York Flash . From there, Engen moved on to the Boston Breakers a year later , after the Chicago Red Stars initially held their NWSL rights for a short time . After the 2016 season, she took a career break.
National team
Engen played for the US U-20 and U-23 teams. In 2011 she was used for the first time for the A-selection of the USA and took part in the Algarve Cups 2011 , 2013 , 2014 and 2015 (without use). Engen was also appointed to the US squad for the 2015 World Cup . But she was the only field player in the squad not to be used. In October 2016, Engen announced her end of career in the national team because national coach Jill Ellis no longer plans with her.
