Albatross Rock ( Afrikaans Albatros-Eiland ) is one of the central Penguin Islands in the South Atlantic 3.1 kilometers west of Namibia's Diamond Coast , from which it is separated by the Albatross Channel . It is 1.2 kilometers from the mainland and 50 kilometers south of the city of Lüderitz . In the island chain of the Penguin Islands, it is 10.2 kilometers south of Possession Island and 8.1 kilometers north of Pomona Island .
The narrow island measures about 600 meters from north to south and 100 meters at its widest point. In the north a long chain of rocks juts out of the sea and 200 meters west of it is another rock in front of it.
