The Albert-Einstein-Gymnasium (also AEG for short) is a high school in Neubrandenburg . It was created when the schools were merged from the Curie, Friedrich Engels and Ernst Alban grammar schools. The newly restored main building (formerly Curie-Gymnasium) is located in Demminer Straße.
Educational concept
The school has a general and a support branch, in which the students can be taught according to their skills and interests in normal and performance classes (for the highly gifted students). In addition to the first foreign language, English, from year 5, French and Spanish are offered as second foreign languages from year 7. Latin can be taken as a late starting language from the 10th grade . In addition to the teachers, a school social worker and leisure educators are employed.
Location and accessibility
The Albert-Einstein-Gymnasium is located in the Vogelviertel in Neubrandenburg, in the north of the city. It is right on Demminer Strasse, one of the city's busiest streets. The bus stops Albert-Einstein-Gymnasium (formerly: Filmsck) and Demminer Straße are in the immediate vicinity. These are served by city bus routes 1, 5, 9, 11 and 22. Supra-regional buses also stop at these stops. There are also numerous parking spaces in the neighborhood, the AEG itself offers a large number of partly covered and video-monitored bicycle parking spaces.
history
The Albert-Einstein-Gymnasium lies in the tradition of a humanistic gymnasium, which was established from 1553 as a municipal Latin and scholarly school and a municipal grammar school (1841), a high school for boys (1945), an extended high school (EOS) and that Friedrich-Engels-Gymnasium Neubrandenburg leads.
Furnishing
On the school premises there is a sports field and a large gym , which is also used for extracurricular sports competitions. There is a renewable energy system on the roof of the main building .
The three-story school building has around 100 rooms. There are specialist cabinets for the subjects of physics, computer science, art and chemistry / biology. In the wings of the house there is an auditorium and a cafeteria . In the canteen, the students have the opportunity to eat at Sodexo .
Engagement and competitions
Students at the school take part in several competitions, including the Mathematics Olympiad, the Olympiads in German and English and the geo-competition (from National Geographic ). The AEG is a MINT-EC school and offers various activities on MINT subjects such as camps. The grammar school is a school without racism - school with courage . Every year in January the "Einsteincup", an in-house volleyball tournament, takes place.
