The Albert Falls Dam ( English Albert Falls Dam , formerly: Peatties Lake ) is an artificially created lake near Pietermaritzburg in KwaZulu-Natal , South Africa . It is located in the uMshwathi community in the uMgungundlovu district in the middle of the Albert Falls Nature Reserve . It is one of the four reservoirs along the Umgeni and one of the largest in KwaZulu-Natal. It lies at an altitude of 730 meters above sea level.
The lake is regularly the scene of various sporting competitions.
