Albert Cappel

Albert Cappel (born November 18, 1921 in Pfeddersheim ; † July 21, 2018 ) was a German graduate meteorologist . He was one of the first team of climatologists to make weather forecasts live on German television .

Act

From 1959 Albert Cappel worked for the German Weather Service in Offenbach am Main and temporarily in the branch in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse . From 1981 until his retirement in 1984 he was head of the Frankfurt Meteorological Office in the Offenbach headquarters of the German Meteorological Service.

With the start of broadcasting on ZDF and the first broadcast of the Today news, the weather was presented by a presenter for the first time on German television. Cappel was part of the team for the Today program right from the start and explained the weather to viewers until 1988.

Cappel published numerous scientific works, including several basic climatological and reference works.
