Albert III (Gorizia)

Albert III von Gorizia († 1374 ) was a Gorizia count who lived and worked in the period of the High Middle Ages .

Albert III came from the first marriage of the Meinhardinischen Count Albert II. von Gorizia with Elisabeth von Hessen, daughter of Landgrave Heinrich I. In the year 1338 he joined together with his (half) brothers Heinrich V. and Meinhard VI. von Gorizia inherited the inheritance of her cousin Johann Heinrich IV. von Gorizia . In 1329/38 he was governor of Friuli , Gorizia and Istria . Through an agreement with his half-brothers, he became the sole Count Palatine of Carinthia in 1339 . Albert III was first married to a noblewoman named Helena and second marriage (1353) to Katharina von Cilli (1284–1308), daughter of Count Friedrich I.
