Albert Wilhelm Gustav Goetz

Albert Wilhelm Gustav Goetz (born November 29, 1821 in Leipzig ; † December 16, 1898 ) was an entrepreneur and member of the German Reichstag .

Life

Goetz attended the Plato Institute, the Nikolai-Gymnasium and the University in Leipzig . From 1837 on he worked in mechanical engineering and studied mathematics and physics from 1842 to 1844. Between 1844 and 1846 he was employed by Esche, Wyß & Co. in Zurich , and from 1846–47 by Borsig in Berlin . From 1847 to 1854 he was head of the Honwetschen machine factory and foundry and in 1854 he founded the Goetz & Nestmann company, of which he had been the sole owner since 1864. From 1857 onwards he was city councilor for 26 years, from 1872 onwards deputy and from 1876 onwards the first head of the council. In 1881 he was made an honorary citizen of the city of Leipzig. For many years he was a member and deputy chairman of the Chamber of Commerce .

From 1890 to 1893 he was a member of the German Reichstag for the constituency Kingdom of Saxony 12 Leipzig-Stadt and the National Liberal Party .
