Albert von Arnstein

Albert von Arnstein (* before 1230; † 1294/1295) was elect of the Brandenburg diocese from 1261 to 1263 .

Life

The first mention of Albert von Arnstein dates back to May 15, 1255 as Canon of Magdeburg. In 1261 he was elected as the new Bishop of Brandenburg in a conflicting election at the Leitzkau Convent. His election as bishop was supported by the Archbishop of Magdeburg, Ruprecht von Querfurt . The Brandenburg Chapter, on the other hand, elected Heinrich I of Ostheeren as the new Bishop of Brandenburg. The process conducted at the curia to fill the bishopric ended in 1263 with the Leitzkau convent renouncing it. On November 29, 1264 Albert von Arnstein became canon and archdeacon of Kalbe . From December 9, 1264 to October 5, 1265 he was Provost of Magdeburg. He died between September 20, 1294 and January 20, 1295.
