Heinrich I. von Ostheeren

Heinrich I von Ostheeren was Bishop of Brandenburg from 1261 to 1277 . He belonged to the Premonstratensian Order . He was the first bishop of Brandenburg to bear the name Heinrich.

Life

Before his election as Bishop of Brandenburg, Heinrich was canon of Brandenburg and pastor to Berge. The Brandenburg chapter elected him bishop of Brandenburg in 1261, while the Leitzkau convent elected Albert von Arnstein as the new bishop. There was a process at the curia , which ended in 1263 with the resignation of the Leitzkau convent. On February 25, 1263, Pope Urban IV commissioned Albert, the former bishop of Regensburg, to go to Brandenburg and confirm the election of Heinrich I. On October 31, 1263, Heinrich I received confirmation as Bishop of Brandenburg. The exact time of his death is not known. The last written mention is dated January 13, 1277.

He carried a pointed oval seal. The standing bishop was in the seal field. The bishop holds a cross staff in his right hand and a crook in his left hand. The inscription reads: † HENRICVS DEI GRA BRANDEBVRGEN EPC .
