Alberto I della Scala

Alberto I della Scala († September 3, 1301 ) was the second regent of the city of Verona from the House of Scaliger . He was the son of Jacopino della Scala and the brother and successor of Mastino I della Scala , who was killed on October 17, 1277 by the city's nobles.

The rule of the della Scala family was not disturbed by the murder, as Alberto I immediately afterwards - he was already Podestà in Mantua - seized power as Capitano del popolo . Alberto's government was an uninterrupted war against the Counts of San Bonifacio, whom the House of Este stood by.

The tomb of Alberto I della Scala is located at the Scaliger tombs in Verona.
