Alboino I. della Scala

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Alboino I della Scala (* around 1284 in Verona ; † November 29, 1311 ibid) from the Scaliger family was lord of Verona since 1304 as the successor to his brother Bartolomeo I della Scala , since his son Cecchino as heir due to his Youth was out of the question. Alboino was the son of Alberto I della Scala , who ruled the city from 1277 to 1301.

In order to settle his own question of succession in good time, Alboino accepted his youngest brother Cangrande I della Scala as co-regent in 1308 , who then became his successor after his death (especially since the next generation was still not of sufficient age for the office) . Alboino and Cangrande were jointly appointed imperial vicars of Verona in March 1311.

Alboino had been married to Caterina Visconti since 1298, a daughter of Matteo I. Visconti , from whom he had a daughter, Viridis. Viridis married Ricardo of Camino in 1316 and Ugolino Gonzaga in 1340 .

The male heirs did not appear until they were married to Beatrice, the daughter of Giberto von Corregio:
