Alberto Quintano (born April 26, 1946 in Santiago de Chile ) is a former Chilean football player on the position of central defender .

Life

Quintano began his professional career in 1963 at his hometown club Universidad de Chile , with which he won the Chilean championship three times in the 1965, 1967 and 1969 seasons.

In the summer of 1971 Quintano moved to Mexico , where he was under contract with Cruz Azul until the end of 1976 and won the Mexican championship three times in a row between 1972 and 1974 .

He returned to his homeland in early 1977 and played again for Universidad de Chile until the end of 1980 and then for one season each at Universidad Católica and Magallanes , where he ended his active career in 1982.

Between 1967 and 1979 Quintano played a total of 47 missions for the Chilean national team . The highlight of his international career was his participation in the soccer world championship 1974 , in which he played all three games of the Chilean selection (0: 1 against the FRG, 1: 1 against the GDR and 0: 0 against Australia).

After his active career, he worked as a coach in his home country for a long time. Since June 2009 he has held the post of sports director at his former club, Cruz Azul.
