Albin Max Ay

Albin Max Ay (born July 8, 1862 in Hohburg , † March 14, 1941 in Meißen ) was a German local politician . On October 1, 1896, he was elected mayor of Meißen.

Life

After attending the St. Thomas School in Leipzig (until 1883), Ay studied law in Bonn and Leipzig , where he also obtained a Dr. jur. received his doctorate. After his legal clerkship, he first worked in local government and was a city councilor in Crimmitschau . On June 15, 1896, he was appointed city councilor and deputy mayor in Meißen, and on October 1, 1896, he was elected mayor in Meißen. He held this office from October 13, 1896 to December 31, 1926, and from September 21, 1912 even as Lord Mayor. As the first  magistrate of the city of Meissen, he was a member of the first chamber of the Saxon state parliament between 1905 and 1918 . In 1927 he was made an honorary citizen of Meissen. He was also Knight First Class of the Albrecht Order , Knight III. Class of the Order of the Iron Crown and bearer of the Order of the Crown. After his tenure he was bankruptcy administrator for the city of Glashütte from 1929 to 1930 .
