The Albrecht Dürer monument in Nuremberg ( Sebalder Altstadt ) was cast by Jacob Daniel Burgschmiet based on a design by Christian Daniel Rauch .

The order was given by the Bavarian Crown Prince Ludwig . On the occasion of the 300th anniversary of Dürer's death, the foundation stone for the memorial was laid on April 7, 1828 and unveiled on May 21, 1840 on the milk market (today Albrecht-Dürer-Platz). With the monument to Albrecht Dürer , the first public artist monument was erected in Germany.
