Jacob Daniel Burgschmiet (born October 11, 1796 in Nuremberg ; † March 7, 1858 there ) was a sculptor and ore caster of the 19th century .

Life

Burgschmiet's first significant sculptural work was three figures for the orphanage in Nuremberg. He was a teacher of modeling at the art school in Nuremberg . During his stay in Paris in 1828, he was represented in Nuremberg by his friend and student Georg Howaldt . Burgschmiet founded the art foundry Lenz , which his son-in-law Christoph Albrecht Lenz continued and which still exists today.

His grave is in the Johannisfriedhof (Nuremberg) .
