Melting furnace in the Lenz art foundry

The Lenz art foundry in Nuremberg has existed since 1829. Numerous works of art were created here, which still determine the impression of some Nuremberg squares today, but were also delivered internationally, for example to Prague , Stockholm and Chicago .

history

1829 Jacob Daniel Burgschmiet founded his first foundry in Rotschmiedsgasse in Nuremberg. In 1850 he moved it to Seilergasse, which was renamed Burgschmietstrasse after him in 1872. The company is still located here today.

The foundry already became known nationwide through the order from the founding year for the Albrecht Dürer monument from King Ludwig I. Burgschmiet's daughter Dorothea married Christoph Albrecht Lenz. He and his descendants continued to run the business. In 1957 Franz Jahn started working at the art foundry. He became a partner in 1975 and owner of the foundry in 1988. After his death in 2012, his daughter Sabine Jahn took over the management of the business.
