Stefan Gross

Stefan Groß (born February 5, 1972 in Jena ), holds a doctorate in philosophy , is a German journalist , publicist and publisher . He has been editor-in-chief of the debate magazine The European since 2017 .

biography

Stefan Groß studied philosophy , theology and art history in Jena and Munich . Since 1992 he has been the editor of TABVLA RASA, Jenenser magazine for critical thinking, which he co-founded . At the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena, he worked and lectured from 1993, first in practical philosophy and from 2002 in ancient philosophy . There he obtained his doctorate in 2002 with a thesis on Karl Christian Friedrich Krause (published in 2002 and 2007), in which Groß critically constructs the relationship between metaphysics and transcendental philosophy.

Some of his essays deal with art-aesthetic reflections and an epistemological reference to Wolfgang Cramer's rationalist metaphysics. From August 2005 to September 2006 he was head of department for Cicero - magazine for political culture . He publishes articles on current affairs in the Tabula Rasa, which he edited , Die Kulturzeitung aus Mitteldeutschland . His book on Weimar Classicism (2009) is the first attempt to classify them in the hierarchical discourse of genre as it was led by Goethe and Schiller with regard to garden art, sculpture and sculpture .
