Albrecht Schumann

Albrecht Schumann (born December 25, 1911 in Bautzen , † April 28, 1999 in Bad Homburg ) was a German engineer and long-time CEO of Hochtief .

Life

Schumann studied civil engineering at the University of Karlsruhe and finished his studies with a doctorate in engineering. He was a member of the Teutonia fraternity there . From 1941 he worked in his parents' construction business. When there were no longer any prospects for private companies in the GDR after the war , he moved with his family to the Federal Republic. At the beginning of the sixties, Schumann started working at Hochtief. In 1966 he became a member of the board and two years later chairman. He held this position until the end of 1980. Albrecht was responsible for developing Hochtief into a corporation and for expanding international business. In the 1970s, the group developed into a prosperous company thanks to major orders in the Middle East.
