Alda the younger

Alda (* probably 925 ; † 954 ) was Margravine of Spoleto and came from the bosonid family . To distinguish it from her mother of the same name, she is also called Alda the Younger, and after her father's origins also Alda of Provence .

Alda is the daughter of Hugo von Arles and Alda of Italy and sister of King Lothar of Italy . In 936 she married her stepbrother Alberich II of Spoleto, one of the most influential princes of his time, who is referred to in sources as princeps ac senator omnium Romanorum , i.e. ruler of Rome.

Her son was Octavian, who later became Pope John XII. (* 937 or 939) became known.
