Aldo Moser

Aldo Moser (born February 7, 1934 in Palù di Giovo , Trentino ) is a former Italian cyclist .

Athletic career

At the age of twenty, Aldo Moser, who was born in South Tyrol, first attracted attention with a 13th place at the 1954 road world championship in Solingen and that same year switched to the professionals, where he won the Coppa Agostoni , which was also his first victory as a professional driver. In 1955 he won the Gran Premio Industria e Commercio di Prato . Twice - in 1958 and 1959 - he won the Trofeo Baracchi , both times with Ercole Baldini , and in 1963 the Coppa Bernocchi . He was also the best individual time trialist at the 1959 Grand Prix des Nations .

In 1955 Moser finished sixth in the overall ranking of the Giro d'Italia , and in 1958 tenth. In 1969 he finished seventh in the overall ranking of the Giro . In 1971 he wore the Maglia Rosa for one day . In his long career he was able to achieve a total of 14 victories.

He was a professional cyclist for almost 20 years and the oldest of the cycling Moser brothers, Diego, Enzo and Francesco. In 1973 he played his last season at the side of what would later become the most successful of the Moser family, Francesco, as well as Enzo and Diego. Three of his nephews are also cyclists, including Leonardo Moser , who has since ended his career, and his brother Moreno Moser , who has been a professional neoprene for the Liquigas-Cannondale team since 2012 .
