Alec Wodtke

Alec Michael Wodtke (born July 10, 1959 in Salt Lake City ) is an American chemist .

After studying at the University of Utah ( Bachelor of Arts magna cum laude 1981), Wodtke conducted research at the University of California, Berkeley , where he received his PhD in 1985 .

From 1986 to 1988 Wodtke was a visiting scientist at the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics and Self-Organization in Göttingen . He then went to the University of California, Santa Barbara as Assistant Professor , where he was promoted to Associate Professor in 1993 and Full Professor in 1996 . In 2010 Wodtke accepted a call from the Max Planck Society as Scientific Member and Director at the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry in Göttingen . At the same time, in 2011, in cooperation with the University of Göttingen, he was awarded an Alexander von Humboldt Professorship from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, which provides extensive research funding for five years.

With his wife Liesel, geb. Roeder, he has two sons.
