Aleidis Raiscop
Aleidis Raiscop (Raeskop and other forms of name; * 1449 in Goch ; † December 15, 1507 in the Rolandswerth monastery ) was a Benedictine and writer.
Aleidis Raiscop entered the Hagenbusch monastery near Xanten. In 1467 she moved to the Rolandswerth Monastery (now Nonnenwerth) as a learned schoolmaster. The Benedictine woman wrote seven Latin homilies (sermons) on St. Paul and translated a German work on Holy Mass into Latin. Johannes Butzbach dedicated his work “De illustribus mulieribus” (About famous women) from 1505 to the learned nun.
In 1932, Goch named a street in memory of Raiscop.
