Aleksandar Tassew

Aleksandar Tassew (* 1961 or 1962 ; † May 14, 2007 ) was a Bulgarian entrepreneur, politician and football official .

Career

Tassew started his business through his uncle Nikola Tassew , who was an important person in the times of communist Bulgaria. He was involved in the activities of over 240 companies. This made him one of the richest men in southwestern Bulgaria. He had initially succeeded as a money changer , he later earned his fortune as a commodity trader for u. a. Cherries, wine, oil and metals. As was announced shortly after his death, in 2001 the Bulgarian Interior Ministry investigated him for possible circumvention of the trade embargo against Serbia . However, the trial had been abruptly dropped for reasons unknown.

Tassew also had political ambitions. Initially a supporter of the BSP politician Georgi Parvanov , he stood unsuccessfully as a candidate for the Bulgarian Business Bloc in the Bulgarian parliamentary election in 1997 .

In the spring of 2006, Tassew took over the presidency of Lokomotive Plovdiv , which he held until his death.

In May 2007, Tassev was shot dead in a suburb of Sofia at the age of 45 . He was the third President of Lokomotiv Plovdiv, after Georgi Ilyv and Nikolai Popov , to be murdered within two years.
