Tyszkiewicz came from a wealthy old noble family Tyszkiewicz , who previously had considerable political influence in Lithuania and Poland. To perfect his painting, he went to Paris and took lessons from Alphonse de Neuville (1836–1885), who was best known for battle pictures. In his palace in Hovory ( Russian Ховоры, near Borissoglebskij ) in central Russia, Tyszkiewicz worked as a history painter and illustrated historical novels by the later Nobel Prize winner Henryk Sienkiewicz . As a photographer he joined the Society for the Promotion of Amateur Photography in Hamburg as an external member . This was dedicated to art photography. Tyszkiewicz's pictures show insights into a world of past splendor. Works by him are represented in the Ernst Juhl Collection, which today is mainly kept in the Museum of Art and Industry in Hamburg and in the Berlin Art Library.
