The Alert Channel is a small strait on the north coast of South Georgia . In Stromness Bay , it leads between the Whaler Channel and Bar Rocks to the head end of Husvik Harbor .
Scientists from the UK Discovery Investigations mapped the waterway in 1928 and named it after the motorboat Alert they used for survey work.
