The Alert Point is a headland on the north coast of South Georgia . It is located on the northern flank of the mouth of the Purvis Glacier in Possession Bay .
Scientists from the British Discovery Investigations mapped it between 1928 and 1929 and named the headland after the motorboat Alert they used to survey the coast of South Georgia.
