Alessandra Ferri
Alessandra Ferri (born May 6, 1963 in Milan ) is an Italian ballet dancer . From 1992 to 2005 she was prima ballerina at the Teatro alla Scala di Milano and one of the most famous dancers in the world.
Alessandra Ferri's repertoire includes both the great classical ballet roles and modern pieces.
Life
In her childhood she learned to dance at the Teatro alla Scala. At the age of 15 she was accepted into the school of the Royal Ballet in London . In 1980 she won a prize at the Lausanne dance competition and was accepted as a member of the Royal Ballet London.
In 1985, at the invitation of Mikhail Baryshnikov , she moved to the American Ballet Theater and became a prima ballerina. In 1992 she was the first Italian dancer to be invited to the Paris Opera as Première danseuse étoile , where she worked with Roland Petit .
