Physical fitness test

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Physical Fitness Test ( PFT ) was used by the Bundeswehr to determine physical performance . Since January 1, 2010, it has been replaced by the basic fitness test . It was given by those doing basic military service before and after general basic training , by soldiers on a temporary basis and by professional soldiers once a year. It was also part of the test procedure at the Officer Applicant Testing Center (OPZ) and at the Centers for Recruiting Young Talent (ZNwG). In addition, the entire PFT as an individual discipline with up to 100 out of a total of 500 points was included in the evaluation of the sports test of the Army Officers School . The exact process of the PFT was regulated in the Central Service Regulation (ZDv) 3/10 (Sport in the Bundeswehr).

execution

The PFT consists of five exercises that must also be completed in this order. The first four exercises are carried out in the sports hall, the 12-minute run can be done either in the hall or on the 400 m lane.

The candidate has to run back and forth four times over a distance of 9 m in as short a time as possible, each time crossing the finish line with one part of the body.
The candidate lies on his back on a gym mat, hands folded behind his head. The legs are set up so that the knees form an approximately 90 ° angle. A comrade holds the examinee's feet to fixate them. In 40 seconds, the upper body must be straightened as often as possible so that the elbows touch the knees.
The test candidate stands on a gymnastics mat and must jump as far as possible with both legs and without running - from a standing position.
The test candidate lies on his stomach on the hall floor, hands touch on his back. Within 40 seconds he has to push himself up with his arms as often as possible, let go of one arm and touch the other forearm with the hand of the same and return to the starting position.
The candidate must cover the longest possible distance within 12 minutes.
The test candidate must maintain a specified number of revolutions per minute with increasing resistance.

There are different performance tables for men and women. A maximum of 6 points can be achieved per exercise. In order to pass the test, one must achieve at least 15 points, but must not have less than 2 points in any discipline. In the OPZ and the ZNwG, 6 points count as a pass, but 1 point is enough to pass the discipline.
