Alessandra Schiavo

Alessandra Schiavo (born October 12, 1969 in Naples ) is an Italian diplomat .

Life

In July 1991 she completed a degree in political science . From 1992 she did research at the University of Leiden on the subject of European defense systems. In 1993 she joined the Foreign Service and was employed in the European Union, Economy Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From February 1997 to December 2000 she did public relations work in Tel Aviv . In January 2001 she was appointed Secretary of the First Class Embassy in Brussels. In 2002 she was employed in the Secretariat of the European Convention , where a first draft of the European Constitution was drawn up.

From July 2003 to September 2003 she headed the legal department of the European Convention. In September 2003 she was appointed diplomatic advisor to the Italian President. In 2008 she was appointed First Class Counselor. From April 2010 to July 2014, she held the exequatur as Consul General in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region . From July 2014 to January 2015, she headed the Magreb department (Algeria, Libya, Morocco and Tunisia) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In January 2015 she was appointed diplomatic advisor to the Foreign Minister. Since September 5, 2018, she has been ambassador to Yangon Myanmar .

She is fluent in English, French and Spanish, understands Portuguese and has learned German, Arabic and Hebrew.
