Alessandro Piccolo (Agronomist)
Alessandro Piccolo (born July 7, 1951 in Rome ) is an Italian chemist and agricultural scientist specializing in soil science . He is an excellent from the Humboldt Foundation Professor of the University of Naples , editor of Springer's journal Chemical and Biological Technologies in Agriculture and a member of numerous EU research projects such as the University of Hohenheim in the project Biofector .

After completing his A-levels at the "EQVisconti" high school for classical languages in Rome , he studied chemistry at the La Sapienza University in Rome, completing a doctorate as a Dr. phil. After various internships and a. In 1978 he went to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the Goodyear Group , where he continued his studies in agricultural sciences , especially pedology . From 1980 Piccolo was an expert at the FAO Research Director at the Institute for Agricultural Research in Ethiopia . At the same time he was Director of Agricultural Chemistry at the Research Institute of the Italian Ministry of Agriculture in Rome and Florence .
In 1992 Piccolo was appointed professor to the chair of agrochemistry and ecology at the University of Naples Federico II. His special interest is, besides the questions of soil chemistry, soil organisms and the transformation of biomass in the soil.
