Alessandro Salvio
Alessandro Salvio (* around 1570 , † around 1640 ) was an Italian chess player who is considered to be the strongest chess player around 1600.
He founded an Italian chess academy in Naples and wrote a book called Trattato dell'Inventione et Arte Liberale del Gioco Degli Scacci , which was published in Naples in 1604. He also wrote Il Puttino , a biography of Leonardo da Cutri , published in 1634. It contained a position that was often wrongly ascribed to Lucena .

1. Rc1 – c4 with the threat of 2. Rd4 + and building a bridge . On the other hand, 1.… Ra2 – d2 is followed by 2. Rc4 – a4 and bridge building , as described in the rook ending .
