Alessandro Vezzosi

Alessandro Vezzosi (* 1950 in Vinci ) is an Italian art critic, author of non-fiction books and exhibition curator . He is the founder of the Museo Ideale Leonardo da Vinci in Vinci. Vezzosi is Accademico Ordinario of the Accademia delle Arti del Disegno in Florence.

His publications focus on the work of Leonardo da Vinci, the Italian Renaissance and Italian garden art. He is the author of numerous journal articles and conference contributions as well as essays and contributions in compilations and exhibition catalogs. He has also written essays on architecture, interior design, handicrafts and gardening. On the question of the authorship of La Bella Principessa , he takes the position of Martin Kemp , who considers the drawing to be a work by Leonardo.

Together with the historian Agnese Sabato, an employee of the Museo ideal, he initiated a project to research the DNA of Leonardo da Vinci. In 2018 the first volume of his research on the descendants of Leonardo's father and Leonardo's uncle was published by an Italian publisher. The company is viewed with skepticism by experts.

Vezzosi founded the Museo Ideale Leonardo da Vinci in 1993, located in the Castello dei Conti Guidi in Vinci, which has housed the Museo Leonardiano di Vinci since 1953. Vezzosi's Ideal Museum includes the Garden of Leonardo and of Utopia and the Archivio Leonardismi . In 2010 the museum was closed for restoration and did not reopen until April 12, 2019.
