NGC 1635 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type SB0 / a in the constellation Eridanus in the southern sky . It is an estimated 145 million light-years from the Milky Way and about 60,000 light-years across.
The object was discovered by Wilhelm Herschel on January 1, 1786 .
