NGC 1652 is an open star cluster in the Large Magellanic Cloud , in the constellation Dorado .
The star cluster was discovered on November 2, 1834 by John Herschel with an 18.7-inch reflector and was later included in his New General Catalog by Dreyer . It seems very likely that the entry NGC 1649 also refers to this star cluster; this entry goes back to a single observation by John Herschel in December 1834.
