NGC 1636 is a spiral galaxy with an active galaxy core of the Hubble type Sab in the constellation Eridanus in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 182 million light years from the Milky Way and about 65,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of ​​the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 1632 , NGC 1646 , NGC 1648 , IC 384 .

The object was discovered by Wilhelm Herschel on January 30, 1786 .
