NGC 1620 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sc in the constellation Eridanus at the southern sky . It is estimated to be 154 million light years from the Milky Way and about 135,000 ly in diameter.
The supernova SN 2009K was observed here.
The object was discovered by Wilhelm Herschel on January 1, 1786 .
