NGC 1605 is a type III1m open star cluster in the constellation Perseus in the northern sky. It has an angular extension of 5.0 'and an apparent magnitude of +10.7 mag. The cluster is about 8,300 light years away from the solar system and is about 12 light years in diameter . At only 40 million years old, NGC 1605 is very young.
The object was discovered by William Herschel on December 11, 1786 and is also known as OCL 406 .
