NGC 1607 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 / a in the constellation Eridanus in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 182 million light years from the Milky Way and about 55,000 light years in diameter .
The galaxies NGC 1599 , NGC 1609 , NGC 1611 , NGC 1613 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered by Édouard Stephan on December 14, 1881 .
