Rimenze is a village in South Sudan .
The village is located in Yambio County in the state of Gbudwe . There is a Roman Catholic mission station founded in 1947 and the Primary Health Care Unit in town.
In Rimenze, Caritas Austria and the Austrian Development Agency operate a training farm as part of the COMPASS program . This is intended to help 1000 farming families. The farmers learn basic skills to improve the yield. Since 2008 the farm has been looked after by sister Rosa Le Thi Bong.
A civil war has been raging in South Sudan since 2013 between the supporters of President Salva Kiir and his former Vice President Riek Machar . There are 1.7 million people in South Sudan who are suffering from the consequences of the longstanding civil war. More and more people are dependent on food aid , especially young children are affected. In July 2016 the conflict escalated again. A refugee camp was set up in Rimenze, which at the beginning of 2017 was caring for over 4000 people. In April 2017, 6,000 people were already living in this refugee camp.
