The Focke-Wulf S 2 is a system developed in the 1920s by German trainer aircraft in Bremen -based former Focke-Wulf AG .

development

The S 2 was created in 1927 as a further development of the S 1 and was intended to eliminate the restricted visibility caused by the shoulder -wing construction. That is why it received a new, high-set wing. The hull was taken over almost unchanged. Due to the modified design, the S 2 was a little heavier than its predecessor, but had a more powerful engine, which was reflected in the trials that began in the same year in a higher speed and better climbing performance. Despite these advantages, the model met with little interest and for a long time there was no buyer for the only aircraft built with the serial number 36, so that after its approval in February 1928 it was used D–1293by Focke-Wulf AG itself. It was not until four years later that the DVL in Adlershof took over the S 2 in February 1932 and handed it over to the Berlin DLV in October 1933 . Nothing is known about the further whereabouts.

construction

The S 2 is a self-supporting high wing in wood construction , the inflatable wing compound by a canopy ensures -Mittelstück. The wing has a strongly rounded trailing edge with external ailerons. The rigid main landing gear is attached to the fuselage with V-struts, crossed with wire and connected to an axle. A grinding spur is attached to the stern.
