The Focke-Wulf Fw 42 was an aircraft project for a planned bomber of the Reichswehr .

history

Following a tender from the Reichswehr Air Command Office in 1929 , Focke-Wulf developed one of the most idiosyncratic aircraft designs of those years. Based on the Focke-Wulf F 19 , the design of a duck bomber was created . Although the Fw 42 promised good performance according to the calculations and several built wind tunnel models showed stable configurations, it was not approved by the Reichswehr. Only the order for the construction of a full - size mock-up including armaments was placed by graduate engineer Roluf Lucht from the Ministry of Transport. This dummy was inspected by at least one foreign commission in addition to the client.

After no construction contract was received, the project was discontinued.
