Focke rays

The Focke Rochen is the name of a type of aircraft that the aircraft manufacturer Henrich Focke began to develop in 1944. Sometimes the design is also called Focke-Wulf Schnellflugzeug or Focke-Wulf VTOL . After tests in the wind tunnel , Focke applied for a patent on it in 1957. It bears the name stingray after its flat construction. According to the structure, it can be assigned to two special types of aircraft :

  • Ringflügler , a ring-shaped flying wing , i.e. an aircraft in which there is no differentiation between wings and fuselage. The stability around the longitudinal and transverse axis necessary for flight is generated by the wing itself.
  • VTOL , a whiz kid , which until then had only been tested as a model airplane.

A vertical take-off is provided with the help of a central coaxial rotor . The aircraft type did not get beyond the testing phase.
