NGC 1622 is a barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBab in the constellation Eridanus in the southern sky . It is an estimated 213 million light years from the Milky Way and about 235,000 light years in diameter .
The galaxies NGC 1618 and NGC 1625 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered on January 16, 1850 by George Johnstone Stoney .
